The project involved a redevelopment of the existing heritage Locomotive Workshops constructed in the 1880s, including full demolition of existing fit-out and construction of a new two-level fit-out, totalling 45,000m2 GBA. This resulted in a premium office and retail space with a GFA of 39,069m2.
The first stage was the demolition of the existing 1990s fit-out, followed by the construction of a new level 1 composite steel deck which is suspended off the original heritage cast-iron crane beams using 1,500 tonnes of structural steel. Secondary steel such as stairs, plant platform, glazed lift shafts and glazing support steel was also undertaken.
